Dreaming of getting away on a summer holiday?

Dreaming of getting away on a summer holiday?

Well with the current UK Government’s ban on non-essential travel, that dream won’t be possible for the next few months at least.

Many European holiday destinations are now tentatively getting ready to welcome visitors… However being totally realistic, with the state of Covid-19 in the UK it’s probably safe to say that welcoming UK travellers may not be their top priority for quite a while. The majority of UK tour operators have already written-off  their summer season and are busy trying to bring forward and expand their winter sun programmes for the Autumn.

    So what could be done?

Taking a sunny summer UK or Irish holiday may be a possibility that could happen far more quickly. According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, the chance that summer 2020 will be the hottest on record is 3/1.  Given that many British people are much better acquainted with Tenerife than Tenby this year could be the perfect opportunity to re-acquaint yourself with the Great British Holiday. Of course all of this is dependant on UK travel restrictions being lifted.

(Hotels in the UK are currently only able to accept bookings for key workers).

So whether its for a Winter sun break in Europe or even further afield or for a closer to home UK&I Summer break, Baxter Hoare Travel has both the team and the resources ready to spring into action the minute the UK Government eases travel restrictions.

Want to discuss possibilities? Please call our friendly, experienced leisure travel team on 020 7940 6261

An International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) will also be introduced alongside the ETA and will cost NZD 35 but will last as long as the ETA is valid.

Second passport application for business or leisure travellers

    Passport renewal beat the rush!

Don’t forget that after we leave the EU after the 31st October many member countries may then require that British Passports have 6-months unexpired validity left on them.

The Passport Office is expecting a surge of applications around that date so CHECK YOUR PASSPORT NOW!. Get your application in ahead of the crowd.

Don’t worry if it’s a bit early – If you renewed a passport before it expired, up to 9 extra months may be added to your new passport’s expiry date. Be careful though, any extra months on your passport over 10 years may not count towards the 6 months that should be remaining for travel to most countries in Europe.

    Company Travel Policy

Does your company have a travel policy and is it enforced?

    Most companies tend to have a basic policy in place even if they deviate from it all the time but why have one in the first place? Most people are aware of the usual benefits;

    • Ensures travel parity throughout all grades of traveler
    • Defines clear boundaries for when various products & services may be used.
    • Sets a financial limit of subsistence for travel and lodging.
    • Introduces a control element so that all travel is properly authorised.

    But did you know…?

    • Your company can get better hotel rates by everyone using the same property or chain. By mandating usage of specific hotels in a policy even better rates may be achieved. Additionally the hotel recognises the value of repeat clients and will often provide “value-added” services like free Wi-Fi or parking, complimentary breakfast, manager’s cocktail hours for lone business travellers, etc.
    • The company needs to know where you are and can only keep tabs if you make your plans through the prescribed channels. “Corporate & Social Responsibility” means they have a Duty of Care to make sure you are safe and well provided for whenever you are travelling on business.   If you’ve deviated or gone and done your own thing then they might not be ready and able to help you out in a crisis.
    • If your travel arranger knows where you are (roughly) then in the event of a political crisis or natural disaster or some commercial disruption then the Travel Management Company can get ahead of the crowd and get you re-protected on alternative travel plans as oon as the news breaks and hopefully ahead of the crowd. This means YOU will be on the flight home and not at the back of the queue trying to find out what’s happening.
    • By keeping track of your movements your company can also calculate your travel miles and therefore estimate your carbon footprint. By receiving the reports for all travellers “footprints” on a regular basis your company is able to take steps towards being “carbon neutral” , maybe by planting trees somewhere or some other eco-friendly method.
